Day 1: Arrival in Paro – Drive to Thimphu

Paro (2,250m) – Thimphu (2,320m) · 54 km | 1 hr 20 mins

A representative from Byways Tours and Travels will receive you at Paro Airport and drive you to Thimphu, a journey of about an hour and twenty minutes including a stop along the way.

In the afternoon, visit Buddha Dordenma, the 51m statue looking out over the valley, followed by the Takin Preserve Centre, home to Bhutan's national animal, and then a Bhutanese authentic craft market.

In the evening, visit Tashichho Dzong. Dinner and overnight in Thimphu.

Day 2: Thimphu – Paro

Thimphu (2,320m) – Paro (2,250m) · 54 km | 1 hr 20 mins

Before leaving Thimphu, visit the School of Thirteen Arts and Crafts and a traditional weaving centre, then drive to Paro.

After lunch, visit Ta Dzong, which houses Bhutan's National Museum, and Paro Rinpung Dzong.

Enjoy an evening stroll through Paro town. Dinner and overnight in Paro.

Day 3: Tiger's Nest Hike

Paro (2,250m) – Tiger's Nest (3,120m) · 7.4 km round trip | approx. 5 hours

Early in the morning, hike to Tiger's Nest Monastery. The 7.4 km round trip takes around five hours and offers beautiful forest and valley views.

Later, visit the 7th-century Kyichu Lhakhang.

After the hike, enjoy a complimentary traditional hot stone bath at a farmhouse to relieve tired muscles and help you unwind after a long day on the trail. Dinner and overnight in Paro.

When is the best time of year to do the 4 day Bhutan tour?

Spring and autumn are the two windows most travellers choose. March to May brings the rhododendrons into bloom; October to December gives the clearest Himalayan views. Both carry the big tshechu festivals — Paro in March or April, Thimphu in September or October. Winter is quieter and colder but the valleys stay open, and the monsoon months are green and uncrowded. How much does the 4 days Bhutan tour cost?

From US$780 per person for three or more travellers, US$810 each for two, and US$1,050 travelling solo. Those are all-inclusive figures: the Sustainable Development Fee of US$100 per person per night — US$300 across your three nights — and the one-off US$40 visa fee are already inside them, along with 3-star hotels, all meals, a guide, driver and private transport. Nothing further is payable on arrival.

Is the Tiger's Nest hike included in the 4 days Bhutan tour?

Yes. The hike to Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) sits on your last full day, once you have had 3 nights to acclimatise. The round trip is about 7.4 km and takes roughly five hours including the tea-house stop.
